Everyone can use a little help!

Breastfeeding Support

Breastfeeding is the most natural way to feed our babies, but it isn't always easy to get started. Most moms need some help at first. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County no longer offers its popular "Breastfeeding for the Health of It!" series but we are able to direct new or expectant moms to the following resources:

Breastfeeding Resources:

Mothers & Babies Perinatal Network of South Central NY

The Ithaca Breastfeeding Coalition comprises breastfeeding helpers from Public Health, WIC, Cornell Co-Operative Extension, Cayuga Medical Center, BirthNet of the Fingerlakes and local medical offices, midwives, doulas, IBCLC private practices, and La Leche League.

Ithaca Breastfeeding Clinic: meets every Wednesday at 11:00am (EXCEPT the first Wednesday of the month!) at Jillian's Drawers on the Ithaca Commons.  Get answers to your breastfeeding questions, weigh your baby, check in on latch, and get quick one-on-one lactation support from trained lactation professionals. Up to 4 families can be accommodated; Drop in welcomed but registered participants will receive priority.

La Leche League of Ithaca serves the Tompkins County region with two free meetings monthly (First Wednesdays 10:00am at Tompkins County Public Library in the Borg Warner room; 3rd Thursdays 6:30pm at Jillian's Drawers on the Commons) and phone support as needed. Call Shanna at (607) 257-4073. If you do not get a call back in reasonable amount of time, please call again. Visit their Facebook page at
