Community Beautification Awards

In 2016, the Tompkins County Beautification Program launched a new awards program in conjunction with Tompkins County Tourism Program and Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce.  The award recognizes businesses, civic associations, community partners and volunteers who have contributed to beautification efforts. Winners are chosen from nominees in four categories: Business, Civic Association, Residence, and Placemaking--and all award winners receive public recognition and a small gift from the Community Beautification Program.  See the 2022 winners below!

Beautification Awards

NOMINATE NOW

Nominations for the Community Awards are accepted all year (deadline October 1 annually) in the four categories:

  • Residential
  • Business
  • Civic Association or Non Profit
  • Placemaking

If you see exceptional beautification in Ithaca and Tompkins County, send in your nominations to the page contact. All award winners receive public recognition and a selection of items to be used in their further beautification efforts.

Every year we receive some nominations for projects that are already created and funded by the Beautification Program. These are not eligible for the awards, but it’s nice to see that people are noticing our work! Ineligible nominations include the Ithaca Commons, Monarch Way Station in Dryden, the Meadow Street plantings near Purity Ice Cream, and the plantings on Cayuga St. next to Tompkins Public Library.
