Last year, local artists painted 18 murals in communities across the Southern Tier as part of the Thriving Futures Mural Initiative sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension Smart Energy Choices in collaboration with Ithaca Murals. The murals all depict different visions of what a “thriving future” looks like, covering themes like clean energy, environmental equity, and strong communities.

Join us for a Thriving Futures mural ribbon cutting on June 4 at 3 pm in Trumansburg (5176 Searsburg Rd) to celebrate the completion of the mural titled “Together” by Coralee Mcnee. This is one of 18 murals completed in communities across the Southern Tier as part of the 2025 Thriving Futures Mural Initiative sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension Smart Energy Choices in collaboration with Ithaca Murals. One other mural in Schuyler County by Brad Leiby will be honored at this unveiling. The murals all depict different visions of what a “thriving future” looks like, covering themes like clean energy, environmental equity, and strong communities.

This spring, initiative organizers are hosting a variety of ribbon cuttings to celebrate a sample of completed murals:

  • May 7: 10am at 49 Pine St., Binghamton & 2pm at 41 Leonard St., Hancock
  • May 21: 9am at 720 W.Green St.,Ithaca
  • June 4: 3pm at 5176 Searsburg Rd.,Trumansburg
  • June 18: 11am at 130 W Morris St., Bath & 2pm at 215 Partridge St., Elmira

Each ribbon cutting celebration will give an opportunity to meet and mingle with the local artists and community energy advisors. The local community and officials are invited to learn more about the murals and the mission of the Regional Clean Energy Programs.
