Demonstration Gardens

The Master Gardener Volunteers of Tompkins County design and maintain demonstration gardens to educate the public about various types of plants and gardens. The gardens are available for casual visiting and browsing and are used for training new Master Gardener Volunteers and home gardeners. Many plants are labeled and some plant lists are available online. The gardens surround the Tompkins County Cooperative Extension offices at 615 Willow, Ave., Ithaca, NY, and include:

  • Al Wurster Memorial Rock Garden
  • Deer Resistant Shade Garden
  • Drought Tolerant Garden
  • Native Plant Garden
  • Pollinator Garden
  • Understory Garden
  • Vegetable Variety Trial Garden
  • Woodland Garden
  • Ziegler Ornamental Garden

Read more about the Demonstration Gardens in this article  from the CCE Tompkins Garden Post newsletter and check out more details about each garden on the left side of this page.
