The Al Wurster Memorial Rock Garden, built in 2000 and 2001, was designed with an educational intent. It demonstrates several types of construction - traditional English, crevice, sandbed and wall. Stones form the bones but the plants are the stars, carefully selected for their small size. Lots of plants can fit into a small space, making this type of garden ideal for small properties. From our plant list you will recognize smaller species of some familiar plant names while other plants are more specialized and suited to the sharp drainage that the lean and sandy soil medium provided in this garden
