Nestled into a natural curve of the woods edge, the owners positioned their home and gardens to obtain maximum views of Ithaca and its surrounding countryside. The curves were then repeated by establishing a variety of paths throughout the perennial gardens. Elegant mixed borders edge the lawn and gracefully lead the wanderer to a quiet bench, the pond, or perhaps a stroll through the 30 acre woodlot (all paths lead home).
Existing trees stand proud as backdrop to shade gardens dappled in sunlight, adding depth and interest. A pond encourages wildlife to venture near, and birds sing happily as they claim this sanctuary for their own. After 20 years of playing in the woods, the owners are ready to welcome you. A special treat - viewing the gardens from inside 'Stepback Cottage'.
NOTE: This garden was a featured site on the 2011 Open Days Garden Tour and is not open to the public at other times.
